SPECIAL REPORT #4 | Your Website Says You're Great. AI Wants a Second Opinion.

Your website says you're great. But AI wants a second opinion. In this AI Search Briefing Special Report, Ralph Peterson looks at new research reported by Search Engine Journal showing how reviews, business listings, reputation, third-party websites, YouTube, Reddit, and other outside sources may influence which businesses AI systems understand, trust, and recommend. Uberall research found that 83% of restaurant locations studied were invisible in AI-generated recommendations, even though 86% had some presence on Google. And AthenaHQ data cited by Search Engine Journal found that a company's own website appeared as a citation in only about 16% of the AI responses analyzed. That's the mindset shift. Your website tells AI who you say you are. Your reviews, listings, videos, directories, community mentions, and other third-party sources help AI determine whether the rest of the internet agrees. Think BIG, be trusted, and be recommended in Google AND AI Search. Source: Search Engine Journal, August 2026. The AI Search Briefing is a daily 1–3 minute update helping business owners, marketers, and SEO professionals understand how AI is changing search.
