July

JULY (reworking of instrumental track by Silvio Vinci JULY Your shirt was hanging from a branch, my shoes were full of clay. July had burned the colour out of everything that day. We sat beneath the railway bridge and watched the hours drift away. Let it run, let it run, let it carry what it can. I don’t need to be that young to feel that way again. They took the old bridge down last spring; the banks are overgrown. I found the path we used to take and followed it alone. I left my shoes beside the reeds; the water felt like coming home. Let it run, let it run, let it carry what it can. I don’t need to be that young to feel that way again. We can’t turn the years around, but standing here, I find some part of that summer never did run dry. Let it run, let it run, let it carry what it can. I don’t need to be that young to feel that way again. That way again… Let it run… let it run…

JULY (reworking of instrumental track by Silvio Vinci JULY
Your shirt was hanging from a branch,
my shoes were full of clay.
July had burned the colour out
of everything that day.
We sat beneath the railway bridge
and watched the hours drift away.

Let it run, let it run,
let it carry what it can.
I don’t need to be that young
to feel that way again.

They took the old bridge down last spring;
the banks are overgrown.
I found the path we used to take
and followed it alone.
I left my shoes beside the reeds;
the water felt like coming home.

Let it run, let it run,
let it carry what it can.
I don’t need to be that young
to feel that way again.

We can’t turn the years around,
but standing here, I find
some part of that summer
never did run dry.

Let it run, let it run,
let it carry what it can.
I don’t need to be that young
to feel that way again.

That way again…

Let it run…
let it run…
