SFD 366: Sent with Floaty Pens

This week on Sent from Disneyland, we cruise down the Rivers of America with two vintage postcards featuring the Mark Twain, dating from 1971 and 1974. Then we head into the curio cabinet for a look at the history of Disneyland floating pens. We'll explore how these novelty pens were developed, their connection to the 1962 Seattle World's Fair and Space Needle, and several Disneyland examples from the 1960s through today—including Mark Twain, Tinker Bell, the Disneyland Railroad, and more. Plus, an incoming postcard, a story about the mysterious Postcard Bandit, and why finding an old postcard can sometimes mean giving it a second chance to complete its journey. Below are some of the regulars on Art Throw Down, Follow all of them on Instagram anyway for great art and postcards in your Instagram feed: Hipstadufus, luluvision, jlynch9923, greenmosspaper, georgemailsart, state_of_the_funyun, RussRomano2021
