Asli Altay is the Head of Design, Communication, & Content at the Walker Art Center, where she also serves as the artistic director of the Walker Design Triennial. The first edition, curated by Joseph Grima, just opened with the theme Beyond Materialism and features the work of 26 designers from around the world. Before the Walker, Asli was a creative director at Apple and the founding director of Future Ancedotes, an Istanbul design studio that worked with art institutions and museums. In this episode, recorded at the Walker, Jarrett and Asli talk about the ambitions for the Triennial, the Walker’s legacy of design, and why triennials like this are a place to take stock of the discipline.
