As the AI boom continues, development of massive gigawatt-scale data centers has spread to regions in the United States beyond "Data Center Alley." The Midwest, with its abundant fresh water and inexpensive energy, is no exception. In this episode, host Emilie Lozier speaks with Anna Haensch, research associate professor at UW-Madison's Data Science Institute, and Kavi Chintam, Vote Solar campaign manager for Illinois, about how communities and policymakers in their states are responding to data center expansion at multiple scales.
