"We steward our lives by staying close to the shepherd who knows how to feed and care for his sheep." What if the way we've been taught to "steward" our bodies is actually keeping us more focused on our bodies than free in them? In this teaching, Alisa Keeton invites us to take a deeper look at stewardship, and what Scripture actually says about stewarding our bodies. If you've ever felt like you should be doing more, eating better, exercising differently, or getting your body 'right' this conversation is for you. Alisa walks through a body dissatisfaction scale and explores how easily Christian wellness language can become another way of watching, comparing, and trying to control our bodies. Instead, she offers a different picture: Bodies need shepherding more than stewarding. Jesus is the Good Shepherd. He knows how to lead, restore, and care for us. Our invitation is to stay close to the One who knows how to care for our whole selves. In this teaching, you'll explore:
- What body dissatisfaction really is how to identify it in ourselves
- How body stewardship can unintentionally become another form of control
- Why bodies are meant to be lived in, not watched
- The connection between soul hunger and body dissatisfaction
- What Scripture actually says about stewardship
- What it looks like to seek Jesus first in a noisy, hyper-visual wellness culture
- Why we may need a Shepherd, not another set of rules
