Handing design off to an agent optimizes for time, but the creative work lives in the fiddling: turning knobs, dragging things, letting ideas emerge as you play. Skip that and you lose emergent design. Underneath it is a bigger shift. Design is becoming the curation of a rule sets. CSS already is one, and the future designer curates the guidelines that decide how UI gets output, from accessibility safeguards to how typography and spacing get expressed.
That affects frameworks too. BEM and Tailwind came out of a human-written-code era, and working closer to raw HTML, CSS, and JavaScript suits agents better anyway. The other half is building the tools you need instead of accepting someone else's as tools keep getting malleable, blending canvas, code, and export. When code generation is this cheap, does the output still feels like yours?
