God uses signs and symbols to communicate powerful truth in the Revelation. But we can read and interpret this book of the Bible literally.

Christ’s Reign

Great mystery surrounds the events discussed in Revelation 20. The millennium is a one-thousand-year period, but we are uncertain about events that precede it and follow it. We know that Satan is bound in the bottomless pit by an angel with a chain during this period. We know that we will reign with Christ on the earth, and we know that Satan will be released at the end of this period for one final act of rebellion against God. The wrath of God will be poured out one final time during this epic triumph over evil. It is shocking that people will still be deceived by Satan into opposing God during this period. This chapter says those who oppose the Kingdom of God will be significant in number.

The Final Judgement

The final judgment of Satan and the false prophet will occur, and they will be cast into the lake of fire for all of eternity. All sin will be judged at this point. Thankfully, those of us who are in Christ will not be judged because our names are written in the Book of Life. We will not encounter the wrath of God!

Next week we will look at the New Heaven and New Earth. We will see that God will dwell with us and will wipe away every tear. Praise God for these beautiful promises. This is the great hope that we have in Jesus Christ our Lord.
