Deep beneath the earth, intense heat and pressure can rearrange an existing rock into something new without destroying it. Difficult seasons can also alter us at a structural level. Hope does not promise freedom from pressure, but it allows us to believe that pressure need not have the final word. Even here, renewal and transformation remain possible.
