What Points Actually Gives You

We had a whole trip to San Francisco planned. And then... we cancelled it. Here's the part that still amazes me: instead of feeling stuck or out the money, we got to sit down as a family and ask one simple question, where do we actually want to go? The answer? The Ozarks in Missouri. Not because it was the cheapest option or the only thing we could afford. Because it's where we wanted to be. That's what this episode is really about. Not points and miles as a math game, points as freedom. The freedom to cancel without panic. The freedom to pivot. The freedom to say yes to any adventure, whether that's a first-class flight overseas or a lake lodge in Missouri. In this episode, I share: Why we cancelled our San Francisco trip and why it didn't derail anything What it feels like to choose a destination based on what you want, not what your budget allows Why the Ozarks won (and why "fancy" isn't the point) The mindset shift that happens when travel stops being a splurge and becomes a skill you've built How points give you options — and options are what freedom actually looks like If you've ever thought points are only for people chasing overwater bungalows, this one's for you.

In this episode, I share:

  • Why we cancelled our San Francisco trip and why it didn't derail anything
  • What it feels like to choose a destination based on what you want, not what your budget allows
  • Why the Ozarks won (and why "fancy" isn't the point)
  • The mindset shift that happens when travel stops being a splurge and becomes a skill you've built
  • How points give you options — and options are what freedom actually looks like

If you've ever thought points are only for people chasing overwater bungalows, this one's for you. Sometimes freedom looks like Missouri.

Ready to build that freedom for yourself? Come join us inside the Travel Points Lounge, where I'll walk you through building your own points strategy step by step, so you can build a life of freedom to say yes to any adventure.
