AI accounts, too, can be suspended if they’re used in ways that break the terms of service — for example, using them in ways that aren’t allowed, sharing an account with other people, or trying to get around safety measures. With Claude, there are apparently stages: first a warning, then a temporary suspension, then a suspension. It isn’t necessarily permanent straight away, and if you think you’ve been suspended by mistake, there’s a way to appeal. Even with a suspended account, you can apparently still log in to Claude and export your data. For ordinary users like us, there isn’t much to watch out for: don’t enter passwords or other people’s personal information; don’t share your account with family or colleagues; check the terms before automating a large amount of repeated work; and check what comes out with your own eyes before you use it. None of this is special — it’s simply how to look after a tool. Still, when I learned an account might stop, the first thing I thought of was the work I’d turned into skills. But thinking it through, I found some reassurance. My skills live as files in my own hands — the steps, the checklists, the examples are all on my computer, and I keep a backup. Even if an account stopped, the contents wouldn’t disappear. Once, when my morning system briefly stopped working, I tried to have a different AI stand in, and it didn’t go well, because my instructions hadn’t been written with that AI in mind. So I now think it matters to keep one alternative tool on hand as well. More and more tools from other companies can read the skill format, so instructions you keep in your own hands can be carried somewhere else when you need to. Hearing about AI accounts being suspended is a little frightening. But there’s no need to be too afraid. Follow the rules, keep what matters in your own hands, and have one alternative tool ready. Rather than worrying about never being stopped, make sure you’d be fine if you were. That’s a much lighter way to feel. This is a public episode.

Claude、Gemini、ChatGPT、Copilot、Perplexity。

English Summary

The other day, on my X timeline, I came across someone saying their AI account had been suspended. I’d heard of social media accounts being suspended, but it gave me a small jolt to realise the same can happen with AI.

I use AI almost every day now — Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT, Copilot, Perplexity. What I’d miss most if it stopped is the work I’ve turned into Claude skills: my morning news roundup, proofreading my posts, drafting replies to comments. I’ve written down how each job is done and handed it to Claude. What if that account stopped working tomorrow? So I looked into it a little.

AI accounts, too, can be suspended if they’re used in ways that break the terms of service — for example, using them in ways that aren’t allowed, sharing an account with other people, or trying to get around safety measures. With Claude, there are apparently stages: first a warning, then a temporary suspension, then a suspension.
