What is a Quaker?

Imagine being in a room with no teacher, no boss, and absolutely no rules about what to do next—except that everyone sits in total, peaceful silence for an entire hour! It sounds totally impossible to most of us, but that is exactly how a religious group called the Quakers worships! In this episode, Mira and Finn explore the amazing history of the Quakers and their biggest idea: the "Inner Light." Quakers believe there is a spark of deep, divine truth inside every single person, which means absolutely everyone is perfectly equal. Because they truly believed this, early Quakers did some incredibly brave things! They refused to take off their hats for the King of England, they wrote the very first petition against slavery in America way back in 1688, and a woman named Elizabeth Fry fought to make terrible prisons safer and kinder. Discover how this quiet group of people used the power of shared silence to make the world a much better, fairer place. Plus, Finn tries the one-minute silence challenge to see what his own brain comes up with when all the noise finally stops!
