A New Mexico state judge has ordered Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, to establish a $567 million fund to address harms to children and teenagers that the court found were caused by the company's social media platforms. The ruling is one of the largest legal penalties ever imposed on a social media company over youth safety.
The Powerball jackpot has climbed to an estimated $856 million for the Saturday, Aug. 8 drawing, making it the eighth-largest Powerball jackpot ever and one of the biggest lottery prizes currently on record in the United States.
