    Taking a Little Break

Hello! We’re taking a little break to give Ben more time to edit The Game of Rassilon, and so we can attend to some personal stuff such as wedding planning. Also we adopted another cat! Her name is Squetzel, and she’s adorable, but she needs time to adjust. We’re not going away forever – we will be back, and we’ll let you know ahead of time. Thank you for being patient and sticking with us!

OOHF: Pocket Sand Don’t Work on Gator [2.16]

Tons of topics discussed in this episode. Tons! We definitely talk about The Nanny. We probably talk about canasta, which we still believe might be some kind of carbonated beverage, or possibly a planet from Doctor Who. Ernie Hudson is mentioned at least once. Honestly, I didn’t take great notes while I was editing this one, but we had fun recording it so that’s gotta count for something, right? Episode 2.16: Canasta Masta Original Airdate: 01/09/95 Synopsis: Maxwell balks when Brighton asks to join Fran’s canasta team in Atlantic City. Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme appear as themselves. This episode also features Niles’ parody of the dance scene from Risky Business. via Shout Factory Follow us on social media @outonherfanny: Twitter | Instagram | Facebook

    OOHF: Three-Piece Chicken Tangent [2.15]

Content warning: The episode of The Nanny discussed contains some fatphobia, which we discuss on the show. What are the chances of Ben and Mandy buckling down and discussing The Nanny without going off-topic? We may never know. Anyway, here’s an episode of the podcast. Does anybody ever read these? Again, nobody knows! Episode 2.15: Kindervelt Days Original Airdate: 01/02/95 Synopsis: After asking Maxwell to take her to a summer camp reunion, Fran learns she’ll be going with Erik Estrada. Morgan Brittany also guest stars. via Shout Factory Follow us on social media @outonherfanny: Twitter | Instagram | Facebook

OOHF: Is There a WikiFeet for Open Mouths? [2.14]

Content warning: The episode of The Nanny discussed contains transphobia and fatphobia, which we discuss at length on the show. When a celebrity guest not a celebrity guest? When they’re a celebrity jar! Sorry, that one got away from me. Nevertheless, Cher both is and is not in this episode of The Nanny, which leads us to deepen our speculation concerning Gracie’s WandaVision scenario. Also, y’know, we discuss the stuff we mentioned in the content warning above, because yikes. Episode 2.14: I’ve Got a Secret Original Airdate: 12/12/94 Synopsis: Maxwell tries to keep Fran from learning the identity of his celebrity houseguest. via Shout Factory Follow us on social media @outonherfanny: Twitter | Instagram | Facebook

    OOHF: TellMeMore.JPEG [2.13]

We return from our hiatus to discuss matters of import – for instance, would Poison Ivy bone down with Captain Planet? And who would Fran Drescher be the best fit to play in the DC Universe? Meanwhile, the death of Invictus Cor affords Lord Zalaxx the opportunity to invade Goliath IX. Unless, of course, Captain Quasar has managed to free herself from the Agony Bonds of Space Prison… Episode 2.13: The Strike Original Airdate: 11/28/94 Synopsis: Fran and Maxwell’s disagreement over crossing a picket line becomes a very public affair. Talk show host Sally Jesse Raphael guest stars. via Shout Factory Follow us on social media @outonherfanny: Twitter | Instagram | Facebook

    OOHF: Sylvia All Along [2.12]

We beg you to resist the urge to PETA at us as we discuss an episode centering around a fur coat, a conversation which leads organically to the discussion of 90s activism and Responsibility Politics. We also discuss the hit TLC reality series Darcy & Stacey, briefly reminisce about Orange Wednesdays, and discuss the bold taste of GULP!, the fish-flavored soda beverage. Episode 2.12: Take Back Your Mink Original Airdate: 11/28/94 Synopsis: Fran and her mother argue about a fur cut she inherited. via Shout Factory Follow us on social media @outonherfanny: Twitter | Instagram | Facebook

OOHF: We’ve All Been Burdened with Tumblr [2.11]

Ben’s brain is old and Mandy’s overly concerned with how to market S’mores to the British public in this week’s troubling episode of Out on her Fanny. Episode 2.11: When You Pish Upon a Star Original Airdate: 11/21/94 Synopsis: Fran regrets encouraging Maxwell to hire a young TV star for his next play. Game show host Bob Barker and columnist Liz Smith appear as themselves. via Shout Factory Follow us on social media @outonherfanny: Twitter | Instagram | Facebook

    OOHF: Teeth-Forward [2.10]

Valentine’s Day was this week, so we spend perhaps too much of our episode’s limited runtime talking about the mechanics of oral sex. We also discuss the most beautiful words in the English language, what Memorial Day is really for, and we may or may not accidentally doxx Mandy’s brother (sorry, Dan). For a fun game, count how many times we say “69”. The first person to tweet the correct total to us won’t win anything, but they will lose our respect! Episode 2.10: The Whine Cellar Original Airdate: 11/14/94 Synopsis: Fran and C.C. find themselves locked in Maxwell’s wine cellar. via Shout Factory Follow us on social media @outonherfanny: Twitter | Instagram | Facebook

    OOHF: Cereal Gremlin [2.09]

Content warning: The episode of The Nanny we discuss includes some transphobic humor, which we begin to discuss about 34 minutes into the show We manage to discuss Corbin Bernsen’s guest appearance in this second-season episode of The Nanny without once mentioning that he was in, like, almost all of Psych. Oops. Oh well. At least we discussed the important stuff, like Maxwell’s secret collection of breast art. Possibly we discuss other things! I genuinely cannot remember. Episode 2.09: Stock Tip Original Airdate: 11/07/94 Synopsis: Fran discovers her new boyfriend (Corbin Bernsen) has a secret, which could cost Maxwell a fortune. via Shout Factory Follow us on social media @outonherfanny: Twitter | Instagram | Facebook

OOHF: My Butt’s Weirdly Sharp? [2.08]

We discuss our family’s racism, the TLC reality series Darcy & Stacy, and Mandy’s impending book deal following a groundbreaking discovery in her childhood. If there’s enough time, we’ll also discuss everyone’s favorite farce about rich people in New York – Gossip Girl. Episode 2.08: Pishke Business Original Airdate: 10/31/94 Synopsis: Fran must woo a big investor after her mother and some friends back Maxwell’s new play. Wallace Shawn and Ben Vereen guest star. via Shout Factory Follow us on social media @outonherfanny: Twitter | Instagram | Facebook

OOHF: Romeo, Romeo, Why U Like This?? [2.07]

Nothing I write here can possibly prepare for you for the hour of audio you’re about to hear. Just, uh, maybe don’t listen to this one on your Bluetooth speaker at work, okay? This is definitely a headphones on affair. Episode 2.07: A Star is Un-Born Original Airdate: 10/24/94 Synopsis: To the surprise of everyone, Fran is cast in a Broadway production of Romeo & Juliet. via Shout Factory Follow us on social media @outonherfanny: Twitter | Instagram | Facebook

OOHF: Other Than Being a Bastard, She’s Fine [2.06]

It’s impossible for me to type the words “We’re back!” without immediately needing to point out the lack of dinosaurs in the following narrative, so here we are. Mandy talks a little bit about her wedding dress, we once again revisit the idea of a 21st-century reboot, and a cartoon bee threatens to ruin the show. Oh, we also talk about The Nanny, and lambast Shout! Factory for a misleading and offensive episode description. Episode 2.06: The Nanny-Napper Original Airdate: 10/17/94 Synopsis: Fran is mistakenly accused of kidnapping a baby. C.C. is horrified when a prostitute recognizes her as a former colleague. via Shout Factory Follow us on social media @outonherfanny: Twitter | Instagram | Facebook

OOHF: Okay! None of That’s Great! [2.05]

Content warning: The episode of The Nanny we discuss includes a transphobic joke, which we discuss at varying points throughout the show. Fran’s nipples, Niles’ breeding, and Maxwell’s dated period jokes are just some – categorically not all – of the topics of discussion that come up as we discuss this particular episode of The Nanny. Episode 2.05: Curse of the Grandmas Original Airdate: 10/10/94 Synopsis: Fran anxiously anticipates a big party on her first anniversary with the Sheffields. via Shout Factory Follow us on social media @outonherfanny: Twitter | Instagram | Facebook

OOHF: Come At Me, The Late Great Stephen Sondheim [2.04]

We return from our excursion to Anime NYC to essentially ruin the podcast by making pretty much everything about anime. Don’t worry, though – with nearly 75 minutes of airtime, we still manage to talk about childhood separation anxiety, the death of the American cheeseburger, and misheard song lyrics. Oh, we also discuss a little sitcom from the 90s called The Nanny. Episode 2.04: Material Fran Original Airdate: 10/03/94 Synopsis: An elderly admirer courts Fran, and Grace tries to kick the teddy bear habit. via Shout Factory Follow us on social media @outonherfanny: Twitter | Instagram | Facebook

OOHF: Elves Can’t Look Up [2.03]

Ben deals psychic damage to you, the listener, at no additional cost. Somehow, while discussing an episode of a 90s sitcom in which an Elderly Relative Comes to Stay, we ended up talking about Lord of the Rings, Second World War Waifus, and Will Smith’s “Parents Just Don’t Understand”. Alright, that last one is actually relevant. Come see Mandy at Anime NYC this weekend! She’ll be at the Sentai Filmworks booth – #1325 – helping to promote the 60th anniversary of Lupin the Third. No episode next week, so we’ll see you in two weeks! Episode 2.03: Everybody Needs a Bubby Sometimes Original Airdate: 9/26/94 Synopsis: Fran’s grandmother moves in and begins giving Maggie advice about sex. via Shout Factory Follow us on social media @outonherfanny: Twitter | Instagram | Facebook

    OOHF: Written By Bullies [2.02]

Content Warning: This episode of Out on her Fanny discusses bullying and mental health. We also discuss a joke from the episode of The Nanny that could be interpreted as homophobic. We dovetail from British Pizza Hut, to Ben’s testicle, to reimagining an 80s kids classic by replacing the lead characters with actor Richard Kind. And to think we thought we’d get through this one quickly. If you want to see Mandy’s tits you listen to the whole episode. Episode 2.02: The Playwright Original Airdate: 9/19/94 Synopsis: In order to teach Brighton a lesson on dating, Fran goes out with a man (guest star Richard Kind) she rejected in high school. via Shout Factory Follow us on social media @outonherfanny: Twitter | Instagram | Facebook

  • Nov 3, 2021 · 47 min

    OOHF: 2 Fran 2 Furious [2.01]

Content Warning: The episode of The Nanny we discuss this week includes a joke that could be interpreted as homophobic, and another that could be interpreted as transphobic. In a startling return to form, we’re actually watching The Nanny this week. Can Mandy record an entire episode of Out on her Fanny while under the psychedelic influences of the Devil’s lettuce? Turns out she’s going to anyway! Episode 2.01: Fran-lite Original Airdate: 9/12/94 Synopsis: Maxwell dates Fran’s double; Brighton has problems with junior high. via Shout Factory Follow us on social media @outonherfanny: Twitter | Instagram | Facebook

OOHF: The Crumpet is His Pingle [Daniel Davis in “Elementary, Dear Data”]

To celebrate our finishing the first season of The Nanny, we momentarily turn our gaze away from Maxwell House and look instead to the stars to appraise Niles actor Daniel Davis’ first guest appearance as the villainous Moriarty in the second season of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Do we discuss the philosophical ramifications of artificial sentience? Absolutely. But we also talk about crumpets as a metaphor for deep dickin’. So, y’know. Balance in all things. Episode: Star Trek: The Next Generation 2.03: “Elementary, Dear Data” Original Airdate: 12/5/88 Synopsis: The Enterprise is threatened when a character in Data and La Forge’s holodeck simulation becomes sentient. via Memory Alpha Follow us on social media @outonherfanny: Twitter | Instagram | Facebook

    OOHF: Matilda 2000 [1.22]

Gracie can’t bring back the dead, but she can cut her Nanny in half. Content Warning: This episode deals with the loss of a parent, and there is a rather candid discussion of Ben’s experience with this during the episode. Episode 1.22: I Don’t Remember Mama Original Airdate: 5/16/94 Synopsis: It’s Mother’s Day, and Maxwell tries to avoid all mention of it to avoid upsetting the children. Meanwhile, Grace and Fran enter a Mother-Daughter Beauty Pageant. via Shout Factory Follow us on social media @outonherfanny: Twitter | Instagram | Facebook
