show notes
December 14, 1981. A 14-year-old girl in St. John's raises her hand for a bus, then sticks out her thumb instead. A sedan pulls over, the driver reaches across to open the door from the inside, and she's gone. Four days later she's found arranged in the woods, her schoolbooks tucked under her arm. She is one of seven. A mother walks into a snowstorm to reach her infant son and never arrives. A hunter parks his truck, locks his rifles inside, and disappears unarmed into the bush. A father calls his ex-wife to say he's wired the house to explode, then vanishes with their three sons. Newfoundland keeps its files open. It does not keep its answers.
