Surviving the Hillside Strangler

Sabra Patterson shares her harrowing survival story in a docuseries about the Hillside Stranglers, detailing how cousins Angelo Buono Jr. and Kenneth Bianchi subjected her to severe physical abuse and simulated asphyxiation before she managed to flee. Patterson asserts that she would have become their inaugural murder victim had she not escaped their clutches in the late 1970s. The notorious serial killers ultimately terrorized Los Angeles by abducting, torturing, and killing at least ten women and girls before their eventual capture and legal reckoning. Years later, Patterson bravely faced her abusers in court to help bring them to justice and ensure they were fully prosecuted for their horrific crimes. Additionally, the documentary series explores related figures, such as Veronica Compton, who attempted a failed copycat murder on Bianchi's behalf while he was imprisoned.
