Nurse Murdered In Twisted Catfishing Plot

This episode details the investigation and trial surrounding a premeditated double murder orchestrated by Brendan Banfield, a former federal agent. Banfield and his Brazilian au pair, Juliana Mallet, carried out a complex catfishing scheme to lure an innocent man, Joseph Ryan, to the Banfield home under the guise of a sexual fantasy. Once there, Banfield murdered his wife and Ryan, attempting to frame the latter as a violent intruder before investigators uncovered the pair’s illicit affair. Despite Banfield’s elaborate efforts to manipulate digital evidence and his claims of innocence during the trial, forensic blood spatter analysis and Mallet's eventual confession proved his direct involvement. Ultimately, the court sentenced Banfield to life in prison without parole, while Mallet received a ten-year sentence for her role in the killings.
