🎭 Directed Edition — every role cast for this story and every line performed with full voice direction.
On a mild November Monday, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson are busy with the honey harvest in their Brooklyn brownstone when Ruth Okafor, a bank accountant, appears at the door near ten at night. She has been sent by Gus Ferreira, the bank's marketing chief, who will not discuss the matter over the phone. A mass mailing to the three million students on a newly purchased app's list has almost entirely come back undelivered. Holmes, unable to resist a puzzle, crosses the bridge into Midtown. On the bank's integration floor, desks once belonging to the app's staff now carry bank lanyards. Dana Whitlock, the app's founder, insists every name was earned. Ferreira worries about his neck, and Okafor, who folds two sets of books against a launch clock, says names are not her column. In the mailroom, Holmes and Ferreira sort through trays of returned post stamped with the same three refusals. Back on the old floor, Whitlock dismisses the failures as ordinary decay and refuses to open her logs without a legal process. The launch is Friday. Holmes holds a box of returned letters and Whitlock holds her number. Who is telling the truth about the list?
From the series Holmes NYC: a real New York crime reimagined as a modern Sherlock Holmes radio mystery, performed by a full multi-voice AI cast with an original score and sound design.
Loosely inspired by a real New York case of the 2020s. All names, characters, dialogue and events are fictional; the words, actions, motives and private lives of every character — including bankers, app founders, accountants, academics, the investigators and the police — are invented for drama, and so is the solution of the mystery. Where a real city, state, public body or newspaper is mentioned, its part in this story is invented; the bank, the app company and the university named in it are invented too. This is a work of fiction, not a factual account of any real person or institution. No real person is portrayed, and no real individual, company or organisation is accused of any act shown here.
Setting: New York City, 2022 — with Brooklyn and Midtown Manhattan.
