Christina Murphy_ They Pulled Her SUV From the River_ It Was Empty

Christina Murphy spent more than two decades caring for people during some of the most frightening moments of their lives. Then, on July 22, 2024, the California nurse and mother of two suddenly disappeared. The search for Christina would eventually lead investigators to the Kern River, where pieces of her Toyota 4Runner were discovered and the SUV itself was found submerged beneath the rushing water. For nearly two months, dangerous river conditions prevented its recovery. When authorities were finally able to pull Christina's vehicle from the river, they discovered something no one was prepared for: the SUV was empty. Christina was not inside. In this episode of Midday Missing, Teri True Crime looks beyond the disappearance to the woman at the center of this case: Christina's childhood in the Lake Isabella area, her decades-long nursing career, her life as a mother of two, and the friends and coworkers who describe a compassionate woman devoted to helping others. Then we follow the search from the first pieces of Christina's vehicle discovered near the Kern River through the private dive effort, the eventual recovery of her Toyota, and the continuing question that has never been answered. If Christina went into the Kern River with her SUV, how did she end up outside of it? And more than two years later, where is Christina Murphy?
