Stop Feeling Like a Failure - E231
transcript
show notes
Dr. JC Doornick takes on one of the heaviest labels people carry: failure. Why do we feel like failures in a world that never promised us success? Dr. JC makes the case that much of what we call failure is a story we tell about an event, not the event itself. Along the way he draws on Carol Dweck’s power of “yet,” J.K. Rowling’s Harvard address on the fringe benefits of failure, the illusion of control, the Buddhist parable of the two arrows, and Epictetus on what is and is not in our control. Then he walks you through the pause step of his Interface Response System, one small “hmm” that creates space between what happened and what you decide it means. You also get a practice to try this week. Stay with me.
