Mad, Sad and Bad with Paloma Faith

JamPot Productions

Paloma Faith has had plenty of moments in her life when she's felt mad, sad or bad - or been told that's what she's being. But do these words mean the same for everyone? What does it mean if someone says you're mad: that you're angry? Unstable? Insane? Or perhaps just different... Could those words be liberating, therapeutic or even transformational?

To find out more, Paloma invites an array of actors, comedians, musicians and thinkers into her home to reflect on times where they've felt mad, sad, bad - and even glad - what they've understood and learnt from these experiences too.

This podcast takes us into Paloma's world, with friends and family popping in occasionally - come for the chaos; stay for the conversation!

Dame Kristin Scott Thomas: The Menopause Is Amazing Once You’re Through It

Acting royalty Kristin Scott Thomas joins me for the final episode of Season 3!! She’s had some absolutely iconic roles on screen, like in Fiona in Four Weddings and a Funeral, Katharine Clifton in The English Patient and THAT legendary Fleabag monologue. There aren’t many people that I’d re-create my living room in a studio for (while heavily pregnant), but I would do basically ANYTHING for Kristin! 💅 We spoke about the guilt of motherhood, being labelled as a ‘cold’ person in the press and feeling like a failure when a marriage breaks down. My amazing friend (and super-talented hairstylist) Louis also joined us to talk about empowerment and the power of positivity. You can find him at @louisbyrneiciaiw. Kristin is an absolute icon; so cool, so glamorous and SO talented - I’m really grateful to her for joining me. And thank YOU for joining me throughout this series! I’ve spoken to so many AMAZING guests, so make sure you go back and check out any episodes you might have missed! — Find us on: Instagram / TikTok / YouTube — Credits: Producer: Emilia Gill Assistant Producer: Alex Reed Video: Josh Bennett, Jake Ji and Harry Sawkins Sound: Rafi Amsili Geovannetti Original music: BUTCH PIXY Social Media: Laura Coughlan Exec Producer for JamPot: Ewan Newbigging-Lister Exec Producers for Idle Industries: Dave Granger & Will Macdonald Hosted on Acast. Jeff Goldblum: Sadness Makes Us More Beautiful

Jeff Goldblum is my idol!! I’ve spent my whole life watching him on screen so, despite being HEAVILY pregnant, there was no way I was missing out on the opportunity to have him on the podcast. As well as being a mega-successful actor (and Hollywood legend), he’s also an insanely talented jazz musician. There’s a reason he’s so many people’s dream dinner guest… The first rule of Jeff Goldblum-ism is to be yourself and he is perfectly unfiltered. We spoke about everything from working with Wes Anderson to dealing with loss… and how his therapist ended up officiating his wedding! He also revealed what he is BAD at (surely Jeff Goldblum isn’t bad at anything?!) and even serenaded us with some of his beautiful jazz tones. Jeff’s love for life is absolutely infectious and he was such a dream to have on the podcast. His new album, with the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, ‘Night Blooms’ is out on 5th June 2026. You can pre-order the album and find tickets for his 2026 world tour HERE. — Find us on: Instagram / TikTok / YouTube — Credits: Producer: Emilia Gill Edit Producer: Kat Milsom Assistant Producer: Alex Reed Video: Josh Bennett, Jake Ji and Harry Sawkins Sound: Rafi Amsili Geovannetti Original music: BUTCH PIXY Social Media: Laura Coughlan Exec Producer for JamPot: Ewan Newbigging-Lister Exec Producers for Idle Industries: Dave Granger & Will Macdonald Hosted on Acast. Paloma Faith On Spending £200m Jackpot, Her Marilyn Monroe Obsession and Meeting Prince!!

This week we’re taking a break from normal programming to collaborate with Rich Beyond My Wildest Dreams, as Paloma joins Sarel to fantasise about how she would spend a £200,000,000 Euromillions jackpot!! From a glass cube house perched on her rooftop, surrounded by rainbow mist and accessed by a spiral staircase (with a slide exit, obviously), to buying up her entire street so friends, family… and her hairdresser can all move in next door. And if that wasn’t enough, she’s getting a time machine too , for evenings spent with Marilyn Monroe, Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday. Sam Ryder: I Rarely Saw My Dad Cry

I’m joined by the man with the most extraordinary hair in the UK, which can only really mean one thing...Sam Ryder. He stole all of our hearts at the Eurovision Song contest with his hit ‘Spaceman’, as well as becoming a TikTok sensation and even landing the role of Jesus in the West End. For someone who has achieved so much, he is probably the most humble person I’ve ever met - and I’m lucky to call him a true friend after filming our show ‘Your Song’ together last year. We covered a lot!! From why he stopped drinking alcohol, to his impressive THREE near-death experiences (protect Sam at all costs), to how we can all make the world a better place. Oh, and there was also that one time he kidnapped someone on tour - but more on that later… Watch Your Song on Channel 4 now!! — Find us on: Instagram / TikTok / YouTube — Credits: Producer: Emilia Gill Assistant Producer: Alex Reed Video: Josh Bennett, Lizzie McCarthy and Harry Sawkins Sound: Rafi Amsili Geovannetti Original music: BUTCH PIXY Social Media: Laura Coughlan Exec Producer for JamPot: Ewan Newbigging-Lister Exec Producers for Idle Industries: Dave Granger & Will Macdonald Hosted on Acast. Rosie Jones: I Was Made To Feel Guilty About My Disability

I’ve always gravitated towards really naughty people, and few people are as naughty as THE Rosie Jones. Since our first meeting, in the presence of actual royalty (more on that later), I’ve followed her incredible career as she’s taken the UK comedy scene by storm!! She started out writing jokes for TV that made other people funny, and now, in her own right, is one of the country’s best known stand-up comedians. 🎤 She also starred in her very own TV show ‘Pushers’ and is a published children’s author. We talk about how to deal with keyboard warriors and how understanding ableism stopped Rosie from feeling guilt about her disability. We also talk about her being a good (and bad) drunk, loving a good flirt, having no regrets and her ‘tricks’ for dodging train tickets… 🤫 — Find us on: Instagram / TikTok / YouTube — Credits: Producer: Emilia Gill Edit Producer: Kat Milsom Assistant Producer: Alex Reed Video: Josh Bennett, Lizzie McCarthy and Harry Sawkins Sound: Rafi Amsili Geovannetti & Laura Iredale Original music: BUTCH PIXY Social Media: Laura Coughlan Exec Producer for JamPot: Ewan Newbigging-Lister Exec Producers for Idle Industries: Dave Granger & Will Macdonald Hosted on Acast. Jamali Maddix: A Lack Of Hope Has Created Angry Men

When I first met Jamali I wasn’t sure if he liked me or not… so I thought I’d get him on the podcast to find out 🤣 Jamali Maddix is one of the sharpest minds in comedy, saying what we’re all thinking, whether we’re ready to hear it or not. You might’ve seen him on Never Mind The Buzzcocks, QI or 8 Out of 10 Cats, but he’s not just funny… he’s seriously thought-provoking too. From his documentaries like Follow The Leader to appearing on Jimmy Carr’s Am I The A**hole?, Jamali has this way of diving into uncomfortable topics and making them make sense. We get into EVERYTHING in this one… from generational trauma to anger, grief and why it’s okay to not always have the answers. It’s deep, it’s funny, it’s a bit chaotic… basically exactly how I like it. We also talk about whether men can actually be trusted in relationships (👀), if animals cry, and why sometimes anger might not be such a bad thing after all. — Find us on: Instagram / TikTok / YouTube — Credits: Producer: Emilia Gill Edit Producer: Kat Milsom Assistant Producer: Alex Reed Video: Josh Bennett, Jake Ji and Harry Sawkins Sound: Rafi Amsili Geovannetti Original music: BUTCH PIXY Social Media: Laura Coughlan Exec Producer for JamPot: Ewan Newbigging-Lister Exec Producers for Idle Industries: Dave Granger & Will Macdonald Hosted on Acast. Michelle de Swarte: Childfree And Having A Great F*cking Time

I’ve been SO excited to speak to Michelle since I first watched her brilliant stand-up comedy. She’s funny, honest, a bit chaotic (just like me) and has some of the MADDEST stories 🤣 After a successful modelling career, bossing the catwalks of New York and beyond, Michelle moved back to the UK in her 30s and turned to the world of comedy. She has written and starred in her own BBC sitcom ‘Spent’, appeared alongside Katherine Ryan in The Duchess and is currently on her ‘The Afters’ stand-up tour across the UK. We talk about our shared experience of being raised by a single mum, how Michelle got fired from a burlesque club, and what it’s like to suddenly make (and spend) LOADS of money in your 20s 💸. We also spoke about society’s expectations of women and why she’s chosen not to have kids. You can find tickets for ‘The Afters’ tour HERE! Thanks again to my neighbour Nicky for joining us on this episode! Ellie Simmonds: My Birth Mum Gave Me Up - But I’m Not Angry

Ellie is one of Britain’s most decorated Paralympians and the youngest person ever to receive an OBE, making history both in and out of the pool. 🏊 You might also have seen her amazing documentaries, like Ellie Simmonds: Finding My Secret Family (A BAFTA winner by the way…), or ice-cold moves on Strictly Come Dancing. She is simply one of the kindest, warmest people I’ve met. After watching her documentary I became completely fascinated by her story and just knew I had to get her on the podcast. In this episode we talk about everything from team pranks and embarrassing moments with Barack Obama, to disability in the care system, online hate, regrets, and the incredible friends and family that keep her grounded. She really is amazing and I can’t wait to see what she does next! — Find us on: Instagram / TikTok / YouTube — Credits: Producer: Emilia Gill Assistant Producer: Alex Reed Video: Josh Bennett, Jake Ji and Harry Sawkins Sound: Joe Richardson & Rafi Amsili Geovannetti Original music: BUTCH PIXY Social Media: Laura Coughlan Exec Producer for JamPot: Ewan Newbigging-Lister Exec Producers for Idle Industries: Dave Granger & Will Macdonald Hosted on Acast. Mo Gilligan: I Don’t Want To Take My Life For Granted

I’ve always LOVED Mo Gilligan (even though he’s from South London and I’m from East, who famously don’t get on!). You might know him from his huge stand-up specials, one of his amazing podcasts or from The Masked Singer, and it was such a pleasure having him on my sofa. We talk all about the madness of stand-up and the never-ending search for the funny in everyday life, from working in retail back in the day (like me 🙌) to booking surprise private jets for his friends. Mo was so honest about how much he’s been affected by getting hate messages online, becoming a dad and how he deals with conflict. His outlook on life is so unflappable and so refreshingly positive. BIG UP MO! You can catch him live on his ‘The Mo You Know’ world tour throughout 2026. Introducing NearlyWeds with Molly and Tom

We spend a lot of time here talking about love, the beautiful bits, the brutal bits, and the bits that quietly undo you when no one’s looking. And that’s exactly why this caught my attention. NearlyWeds with Molly & Tom is a brand new podcast following two reality-TV favourites as they take their romance from public to deeply personal, navigating the emotional, chaotic, hilarious reality of planning a wedding. From family dynamics and money stress to guest list politics, outfits, expectations and the pressure of doing it all “right”, Molly and Tom share the honest behind-the-scenes moments no one really talks about. It’s heartfelt, funny, and refreshingly real. Check out NearlyWeds with Molly and Tom out now Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Zack Polanski: Reform Want To Protect The 1%

Green party polls and membership are at an all time high, and there is one name at the centre of it all: THE Zack Polanski!! In just six months, he and his team have tripled its membership to nearly 200,000 - and it’s growing rapidly. At a time of climate collapse, abuses of power (recently exposed in the Epstein files) and multiple genocides, he represents something rare…hope. Openly gay, socialist and unapologetically vocal about minority rights, he’s also comfortable admitting when he’s wrong, which feels pretty radical in today's world. I put on my “I <3 Zack” t-shirt to talk about what it really means to make politics accessible, why we shouldn’t vote Reform, and his questionable acting stint in America… If you want to buy the t-shirt and support the greens I’ve attached the link here: https://katharinehamnett.teemill.com/product/i-heart-zack-white-t-shirt/ Find us on: Instagram / TikTok / YouTube #ZACKPOLANSKI #PALOMAFAITH #MADSADBAD Credits: Producer: Emilia Gill Assistant Producer: Alex Reed Additional Assistant Producer: Lydia Brownell Video: Josh Bennett, Jake Ji and Lizzie McCarthy Sound: Rafi Amsili Geovannetti Original music: BUTCH PIXY Social Media: Laura Coughlan Exec Producer for JamPot: Ewan Newbigging-Lister Exec Producers for Idle Industries: Dave Granger & Will Macdonald Hosted on Acast. Olly Alexander: I Was Destroying My Body

This week’s guest is the incredible singer, actor, activist and all round icon Olly Alexander. He’s genuinely one of the most talented people I’ve EVER met…from the huge success of his band Years & Years, to his unforgettable performance in ‘It’s A Sin’, to representing the UK at Eurovision, I’m in complete awe of him! We spoke about the madness of sudden fame, his ‘reformed party girl’ status, and the grief of losing his incredible Gran. We also get into the importance of standing up for your trans friends, especially at a time when anti-trans rhetoric feels louder than ever. It was such an honest, funny and moving chat and he’s welcome back any time (even though I’m still fuming that he has a Madame Tussauds waxwork and I don’t). You can see Olly alongside loads of amazing artists at Trans Mission on 11th March at Wembley Arena! Get tickets here. Philippa Perry: Bad Relationships Made Me Dislike Myself

Whenever I’m at a party, I always gravitate towards Philippa Perry. Not only is she a brilliant author, artist, and psychotherapist, but she is also my favourite person to chat with, and one of the wisest people I’ve ever met. We spoke about our mutual love for gossip (yes - therapists gossip too), the ‘blandification’ of culture, and why she’s no longer scared of dying. My amazing friend Airy (@airysomething) also popped in, and together we psychoanalysed some inanimate objects around my house (brought to life with some giant googly eyes!). You have to read Philippa’s new book, Shrink Solves Murder, which is released on 7th May and available for pre-order now. My guest today is a fellow Hackney born and bred musician, who I’ve known since he was a kid…Kojey Radical!! He’s an incredible artist, creative director and poet, and has been nominated for MOBOs, Brits AND shortlisted for the Mercury Prize. We speak about what it’s like to blow up as a musician and trying not to let it get to your head, as well as what he gets up to when he’s left home alone… Kojey also talks about losing one of his closest friends to knife crime and the impact that had on him and his music. Nicknamed the ‘Kindest Man in Hollywood’, he is an Oscar-nominated actor who starred in blockbusters like Withnail & I, Dracula and Saltburn. We covered everything from his turbulent childhood, losing his wife Joan of 38 years, being betrayed by a close friend - oh and Richard’s love of the Traitors. Russell Kane: We’re Not Raised To Be In Touch With Pleasure

Russell Kane is someone I have SO much respect for! I’m so grateful for his honesty in this conversation, from discussing sexual literacy to dealing with the loss of his dad. After winning his first comedy award in 2004, his career grew very quickly. He was forced to learn the ropes in the public eye and is open about his regrets. We also spoke about his Nan, who encouraged him to go to university and how she walked in on him… enjoying some alone time 😬 This was such a fascinating conversation, especially hearing Russell’s willingness to openly reflect on his own decisions and mistakes.
