Tourism spending in Utah hits records despite decrease in number of visitors

Despite some real challenges for Utah's tourism economy, visitor spending was up in 2025 -- just over half a percent. And with that increase, the state's economy saw $13.7 billion from tourism. That comes even with big drops in visits from China and Canada, fewer visits to state and national parks, and a slight decrease in passengers flying through Salt Lake City International Airport. So what's driving up the total spending in our state? And what kind of effect does that have on the overall economy -- how does it help those of us who live here?
