When the lady of the house falls ill, all of her servants refuse to go and fetch the nurse because they are afraid of meeting the brownie (a type of Scottish fairy) who lives in the glen, and so the Brownie himself goes to fetch her and when the nurse discovers the Brownie's kindness she finds a way to reward him.
