Percy the penguin travels to visit his friend Hazel the squirrel for an autumn getaway, initially mistaking the season for a dangerous physical tumble due to a misunderstanding of the word. Throughout his visit, the bewildered seabird learns about changing foliage, helps gather acorns, and mistakenly packs seventeen pairs of socks instead of food. Hazel kindly guides him through the woodland customs, sharing her picnic lunch and introducing him to the joys of raking leaves.
