Allison Cossitt: The one with the Full Blown Argument!

In ep 186 of “How Do You Say That?!” sponsored by britishvoiceover.co.uk, US voice actor Allison Cossitt joins Sam and Mark to talk about how to perform an argument when you go in mid-way! Sam brings an extract from a multi-cast audio book, set way into the distant future. We examine the dread of doing a cold read in a session (or on the show!) and completely messing it up. Mark is handed some very honest feedback, and we reflect on why it's always easier when you've heard someone else read a script first - but the job is working it out for yourself! We're clowning around with an international softball team, there's dark roast deliciousness and a reference to Little Alex Horne!! Our VO question this week is all about why you put off becoming an voice actor for as long as you did? Get involved! Have you got a Wildcard suggestion that we should try or an idea for the show? Send it to us via Mark or Sam's social media or email it directly to podcast@britishvoiceover.co.uk Script 1 The last question was asked for the first time, half in jest, on May 21, 2061, at a time when humanity first stepped into the light. The question came about as a result of a five dollar bet over highballs, and it happened this way: Alexander Adell and Bertram Lupov were two of the faithful attendants of Multivac. As well as any human beings could, they knew what lay behind the cold, clicking, flashing face -- miles and miles of face -- of that giant computer. Script 2 Vernon - I am a living, breathing woman, right in front of you. I’m not some story you can - STOP. Turn back around. Look at me. You do not get to ignore me. You don’t have that privilege. [VERNON stares. The silence between them is palpable.] I know you’re hurt. I know. But you can’t think this is a surprise. You know things have changed between us. This is the most we’ve spoken in months. Stop. It’s too late. That part has already been written, Vernon. No one short of god can change it now. Script 1

The last question was asked for the first time, half in jest, on May 21, 2061, at a time when humanity first stepped into the light. The question came about as a result of a five dollar bet over highballs, and it happened this way:

Alexander Adell and Bertram Lupov were two of the faithful attendants of Multivac. As well as any human beings could, they knew what lay behind the cold, clicking, flashing face -- miles and miles of face -- of that giant computer.

Script 2

Vernon - I am a living, breathing woman, right in front of you. I’m not some story you can - STOP. Turn back around. Look at me. You do not get to ignore me. You don’t have that privilege.

[VERNON stares. The silence between them is palpable.]

I know you’re hurt. I know. But you can’t think this is a surprise. You know things have changed between us. This is the most we’ve spoken in months. Stop. It’s too late. That part has already been written, Vernon. No one short of god can change it now.
