Why Lindsay Clancy's Chaplain Never Documented THIS

Fourteen telehealth sessions. Two hundred hospital visits. Neither person who spent the most time with Lindsay Clancy before or after her three children died in their Duxbury home ever documented the thing her defense now says explains everything. Her psychiatrist testified Clancy never looked psychotic across all fourteen sessions. Her hospital chaplain, who has sat with her roughly two hundred times over three years at Tewksbury Hospital, testified that Clancy described a male voice ordering her to kill her children and then herself. Then the prosecutor asked for the chaplain's notes — and that voice wasn't in a single one of them. This is where the Lindsay Clancy trial actually turns. Massachusetts law puts the burden on prosecutors once an insanity defense is on the table: they have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Clancy was criminally responsible when she killed her children with exercise bands. That means the state needs the jury to believe the chaplain missed the most consequential disclosure of her career, or that Clancy constructed the voice sometime after she survived her own fall. Phone records don't help settle it — Clancy had searched "symptoms of postpartum psychosis," mapped her husband's errand, and ordered the takeout that got him out of the house before it happened.
