One in four. That’s the number of women nationwide who experience sexual
violence during college—and that only accounts for reported cases. On the Cornell University campus, that number is one in three. The widely discussed sexual assault case from Jane Doe is the latest to expose this pervasive, age-old issue.
This week on Hearsay, hosts Uma, Hannah, and Gaylynn talk all things Title IX—the law at the heart of this issue—from their personal experiences as students to the ways sexual harassment cases are portrayed in film and TV. Plus, they get the inside scoop on what’s really going on at Cornell’s campus from Emma Goldberg, a New York Times reporter who covers NYC from the Metro section. After the case came out, Emma spent weeks on the ground at Cornell talking with students and faculty. She joined Uma to share the latest in campus news, from the demands students are making to the impact of student journalism on the case.
