show notes
Finally, after years of inaction, it does finally look like there’s change coming to Channel Tunnel rail services between London, Paris and potentially many more destinations besides. There are brand new operators on the cards such as Virgin Trains, Gemini and Trenitalia. There’s the possibility of new trains as well as new services. There could be new capacity at St Pancras International, new depots to maintain trains – and there’s even talk of reopening Ebbsfleet and Ashford in Kent.
Eurostar are getting in on the act as well with new trains and possibly new services too. And perhaps most remarkable of all, the Scottish Government are going to see if there’s a market for night sleeper services from Scotland to mainland Europe.
We talk to Jon Worth, the popular independent EU Rail policy commentator, writer and campaigner to talk about the latest developments.
