transcript
show notes
In this episode, we take a look at the growing teacher shortage in the United States and the challenges pushing educators out of the classroom. We discuss issues such as teacher pay, burnout, increasing workloads, certification costs, declining enrollment in teacher preparation programs, and the changing expectations placed on educators. We also explore what the shortage means for students, schools, and communities; and examine some of the solutions being proposed to recruit new teachers and keep experienced educators in the profession. It’s a conversation about the people responsible for educating the next generation and what it may take to make teaching a sustainable career again.
