Predicting Back Pain Through Social Media Analytics

PHYSIO MOSMAN: https://www.fitasaphysio.com/ REF: Tweeting back: predicting new cases of back pain with mass social media data (H. Lee et al., 2015) A recent case-crossover study investigated whether monitoring mass social media data can successfully anticipate new occurrences of back pain. Researchers analysed a massive dataset of over 700,000 archived tweets to determine if messages regarding specific physical, psychological, or general health triggers increased the likelihood of a subsequent post about back pain. The findings revealed that users who shared statements concerning these potential triggers experienced significantly elevated odds of posting about back pain shortly afterward. Ultimately, this research demonstrates that public health initiatives could potentially utilise online platforms for real-time surveillance and the delivery of timely, targeted preventive interventions.
