In the eerie French countryside, Colonel Hapgood has been sending his son, Denis, to visit a distant relatives chateau, where the boy becomes enamored with the enchanting yet unsettling atmosphere. However, when Deniss cousin, M. Vaignon, exhibits strange behavior, Hapgood decides its time to put an end to these visits. Coincidentally, M. Vaignon sends a message requesting silence and a halt to the encounters. Initially heartbroken, Denis soon finds joy in the unexpected arrival of Raoul, an enigmatic older man who once served as a groundskeeper at Vaignons estate.
