Welcome to Fall River Now. Here's your look at the week ahead in Fall River city government.
We start with downtown real estate and city development. The Fall River Redevelopment Authority meets Wednesday evening at 5. The board will go into a private executive session to discuss a potential real estate transaction at 45 Anawan Street. Later in the public session, they will debate potential future uses for that property. The board is also scheduled to approve August bills and discuss site improvements, mooring fields, and a dinghy dock at 600 Davol Street. Members will close out their agenda with updates on the Pleasant Street and Flint Neighborhood Urban Renewal Plan, and the North Main Downtown Historic District.
On Tuesday evening at 5:15, the City Council Committee on Public Safety tackles downtown visibility. The committee will meet with city administrators, Director of City Operations Al Oliveira, and police department representatives to discuss improving lighting in the downtown area. Councilors will also discuss the protective turn-out gear used by the Fall River Fire Department. In neighborhood issues, the committee will review a resident's communication about traffic and parking problems on Progress Street.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Tax Increment Financing Board meets at 8 a.m. The primary agenda item to watch is a discussion regarding an Open Meeting Law complaint filed by Collin Dias.
Finally, the Atlantis Charter School Board of Trustees meets Wednesday afternoon at 5:15. The board will discuss preparations for the start of the 2027 school year. David Hutchinson is scheduled to present the July financial statements, and John Gonet will lead a discussion regarding his own reappointment to the board.
