Once again Daniel received a vision during the reign of the last Babylonian king, evil Belshazzar. This came to him about two years after the last vision he received recorded by himself in chapter seven of his book. He was in the ancient area of Elam within the palace of the Babylonian empire at the city of Shushan. More specifically he was next to the local river Ulai. Elam was a people group that was one of the pre-Iranian nations in the middle east. As the map depicts the Elamites were centered on the west area of modern Iran next to the Persian Gulf and northwest of the Strait of Hormuz. Because of the recent US/Iranian conflict the Strait has been in the national news as the Iranians have blocked the many ships carrying oil to the world. This mid-east area produces about 34% of the world's oil production as measured by the US Energy Information. In 2025, nearly 15 mb/d of crude oil, nearly 34% of global crude oil trade, passed through the Strait of Hormuz
