EYRC Training Program: 17th interview, with Prof. Gregory Kaltsas

On behalf of the EYRC, Dr Pedro Marques interviewed Professor Gregory Kaltsas during the Annual Congress of the Portuguese Society of Endocrinology in 29 January – 1 February 2026, in Coimbra, Portugal. Prof. Gregory Kaltsas is a well-known Professor of Endocrinology and the current Professor of Endocrinology and the Head of the EKPA-LAIKO ENETS Center of Excellence in Athens, serves as chair of the ESE Education Committee and is an active member of the Endo-ERN.His academic interests mainly consist of the pathogenesis and management of endocrine tumors, with a great focus on pituitary, adrenal and neuroendocrine tumours.In this interview, Prof. Gregory Kaltsas started by highlighting to us the main features of the hypothalamic-pituitary involvement in Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH), and then discussed the main challenges or developments in the diagnosis and treatment of LCH. After this, Prof. Kaltsas shared with us some advice on how to become a world leader academic professor of Neuroendocrinology, and how to find a good balance between professional and personal life.
