In this episode of eMerge Unchained, host Aubrey Green catches spoken word artist, essayist, and activist Juan Delacruz out at a coffee shop in between events.
The passion in Juan’s work comes across as he opens up about hearing the news his own elementary school was voted to close, becoming an affirmative action officer for the local Democratic Party, and how becoming a husband and father changed his perspective on life. He shares about some of the events he’s organizing—both for the community and the literary world—and admits that, ironically, being so busy fuels his writing rather than hinders it.
Join Juan and Aubrey as they name-drop the people who influence them, discuss how it’s possible to surround yourself with your muse, and how to have hope during fearful, angry times.
