Dins la història del pop, la zona morta és el període de temps entre el 1960 i el 1962, just quan els grans del pop (Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley...) van desaparèixer de l'aparador musical per motius diversos i els Beatles encara no havien arribat.
