Feedback: Luna Glasses for Night Blindness, Claude Code Tips and Bricks for the Blind
transcript
show notes
Double Tap Live, a new 24/7 radio channel for blind and visually impaired listeners, launches this week. Listener stories also cover Luna night vision glasses, LEGO without sight and Claude Code tips.
Steven Scott and Shaun Preece explain what Double Tap Live is: a round-the-clock channel showcasing podcasts from AMI and beyond, plus a monthly live call-in show. The first one features Sriram Ganesh from Lumin, the voice-first email app. Call 613-481-0144 to take part, or use the same number on WhatsApp.
Alan in Forfar tells how Bricks for the Blind's text instructions brought back a hobby from his sighted years. He has built a Formula One car and a bonsai tree, and he uses Ray-Ban Meta glasses to check brick colours. Abhijit shares what building his own accessible API testing tool with Claude Code taught him: plan the architecture early, let Claude move files, and know what each permission request does before you approve it.
Derry in Dublin talks about audiobooks, ElevenReader and reading braille on a Dot Pad X. Mike in New Zealand explains why the right Alt key turns into AltGr on some Windows keyboard layouts. Raheem describes a manager who was afraid of his guide dog, and the hosts discuss how guide dog owners and employers can make room for each other.
Pete tells how Luna glasses let his wife, who has RP, see trees, faces and colours after dark for the first time in 40 years. It raises the question of why tools this life-changing are not easier to fund.
