The Distance is Gone

The Distance Is Gone Why the Space Between You and God Is Always Shorter Than It Feels “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.” — James 4:8 There are seasons when God feels far away. Maybe prayer has become inconsistent. Maybe the Bible has stayed closed longer than you intended. Maybe disappointment, busyness, failure, or simply the gradual drift of everyday life has created a distance that now feels enormous. And when that happens, we can begin believing that finding our way back to God will require some dramatic spiritual journey. James gives us a much simpler invitation: “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.” In this episode of Digging Another Well, a personal story about a child running toward his father becomes a picture of the extraordinary promise contained in James 4:8. God has not retreated because you disappointed Him. He has not moved farther away because you became inconsistent. Often, the distance we feel develops gradually as we drift from the closeness He continually offers. And the way back does not require an elaborate religious performance. Take a step toward Him. Pray. Open the Bible. Talk honestly with God. Turn toward the One who has been there all along. The invitation in James is not complicated, and the promise is not vague. When we draw near to God, He draws near to us. You do not have to cross the entire distance yourself. You simply have to begin moving in His direction. In this devotional, we explore spiritual distance, the subtle ways believers drift, and the incredible grace of a God who welcomes us back into closeness the moment we turn toward Him. However far away God feels today, the distance may be much shorter than you think. Draw near. He is already there. The Distance Is Gone

Why the Space Between You and God Is Always Shorter Than It Feels

“Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.” — James 4:8

There are seasons when God feels far away.

James gives us a much simpler invitation:

“Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.”

In this episode of Digging Another Well, a personal story about a child running toward his father becomes a picture of the extraordinary promise contained in James 4:8.
