Near When It Breaks

Psalm 34:18 reminds us that God is near to the brokenhearted, even when life feels overwhelming and answers seem far away. When your heart is breaking, you may not need someone to explain everything. Sometimes, what you need most is to know you are not alone. During his years as a paramedic, Jared Dyson encountered people facing some of the most difficult moments of their lives. While some situations required immediate medical intervention, others revealed a different kind of need: the comfort of someone’s presence. In this episode of Digging Another Well, we explore what David meant when he wrote, “The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart.” God does not wait for us to recover before drawing near. He meets us in our grief, disappointment, uncertainty, and pain. His Word does not promise that every difficulty will disappear by morning, but it does remind us that His presence is available right now. If you’re experiencing heartbreak, grief, loneliness, or a difficult season, this biblical encouragement from Psalm 34:18 is for you.
