Let read and listen to Bad Religion's song, “Emancipation of the Mind”, a modern restatement of Enlightenment philosophy, arguing that true freedom begins with intellectual autonomy. It inherits Enlightenment ideals of reason, skepticism, and self‑determination, and extends them into a contemporary context where new forms of mental captivity such as media manipulation, ideological conformity, and passive consumption threaten human agency. In doing so, the song both emerges from Enlightenment thought and calls for its renewal.”
