From Abuse to Binge Eating to Healing: A Nervous System Recovery Story

In this episode, I sit down with Jacie Gregory — known online as Lady Carnivory — a nervous system regulation coach, co-founder of the CIRS Group podcast and community, and author of 30 Day Carnivore Boot Camp. Jacie started carnivore in January 2020 mostly to disprove a friend, and within nine months her OCD — which years of exposure therapy and medication hadn't resolved — was in remission. She hasn't had an obsessive thought since. Here's what we cover in the episode: How Jacie went from trying to disprove a coworker's keto diet to discovering carnivore in late 2019, and the nine-month timeline to OCD remission Her high school disordered eating history — restricting food as the only control she had during an abusive living situation — and how eating more, not less, helped her recover What CIRS is, why "carnivore harder" backfired into histamine reactions to beef, and how she's since incorporated the Autoimmune Protocol (AIP) to support gut healing What nervous system regulation actually means (flexibility between states, not permanent calm) and her go-to tool for exiting fight-or-flight — slowing her movements to 30%, even in a room full of people Daily practices: morning gratitude since January 2022, Morning Pages from The Artist's Way, daily fascia work, and electrolytes Her one bikini bodybuilding competition in 2021, the social pressure toward extreme leanness in the carnivore community at the time, and how that culture has shifted since Her book, 30 Day Carnivore Boot Camp, and why she included her own experience of carnivore eventually stopping working for her How she supports people today through the CIRS Group community/podcast and a 12-week nervous system regulation cohort at Built to Regulate More info about Dr. Kristina's upcoming carnivore wellness retreat: https://www.MeatandMovement.com Follow Beyond Binge Eating Instagram: / https://www.instagram.com/BeyondBingeEating/ Website: https://www.BeyondBingeEating.com Newsletter: https://beyondbingeeating.com/Newsletter/ Grab your FREE Eat-With-Awareness Bundle to slow down, stay present, and reclaim peace with food: https://beyondbingeeating.com/opt-in/ Keep in touch with Kristina: https://www.DrKristinaDobyns.com Connect with Jacie here: thecirsgroup.com @LadyCarnivory on Instagram Cohort sign-up & newsletter: builttoregulate.com Timestamps: 00:00 — intro 02:00 — Personal story 02:12 — Discovering keto, then carnivore 03:32 — OCD remission at nine months 03:58 — Mold exposure & CIRS diagnosis 04:49 — Limbic retraining & entry into nervous system work 05:31 — What nervous system regulation actually means 07:10 — Getting back in touch with your body (nervous system mapping) 08:37 — The "slow it to 30%" regulation trick 12:07 — Timeline: weeks, not months, to notice change 12:35 — Morning gratitude practice 14:40 — Reframing the questions you ask your brain 15:31 — Carnivore, CIRS, and hyper-metabolism 17:38 — What the AIP (Autoimmune Protocol) diet is 20:33 — Disordered eating history & recovery 22:15 — Bikini competition & carnivore community pressure 23:55 — Daily tools: physiological baseline as foundation 24:51 — Fascia work & acupuncture 26:06 — Movement, electrolytes, vibration plate 28:47 — Gratitude & Morning Pages practice 29:43 — Identifying as a creator 30:19 — Her book, 30 Day Carnivore Boot Camp 32:23 — How she supports people: CIRS Group & nervous system cohort 34:17 — Closing wisdom: physiological needs first 35:26 — Where to find her Disclaimer: The information on this channel is for educational purposes and is not intended to be a substitute for medical advice or therapy. How Jacie went from trying to disprove a coworker's keto diet to discovering carnivore in late 2019, and the nine-month timeline to OCD remission

Her high school disordered eating history — restricting food as the only control she had during an abusive living situation — and how eating more, not less, helped her recover

What CIRS is, why "carnivore harder" backfired into histamine reactions to beef, and how she's since incorporated the Autoimmune Protocol (AIP) to support gut healing

What nervous system regulation actually means (flexibility between states, not permanent calm) and her go-to tool for exiting fight-or-flight — slowing her movements to 30%, even in a room full of people

Daily practices: morning gratitude since January 2022, Morning Pages from The Artist's Way, daily fascia work, and electrolytes

Her one bikini bodybuilding competition in 2021, the social pressure toward extreme leanness in the carnivore community at the time, and how that culture has shifted since

Her book, 30 Day Carnivore Boot Camp, and why she included her own experience of carnivore eventually stopping working for her

How she supports people today through the CIRS Group community/podcast and a 12-week nervous system regulation cohort at Built to Regulate
