Atemluft durch die Nacht

Flüchtige organische Verbindungen (volatile organic compounds = VOC) besitzen einen großen Dampfdruck, wodurch sie in unsere Atmosphäre gelangen und dort verweilen. Diese große und inhomogene Substanzklasse erforscht Prof. Dr. Jonathan Williams mit seiner Arbeitsgruppe im Bereich der Atmosphärenchemie. Wir lernen ihn und die vielseitige Spielwiese an Forschungsprojekten kennen, die er aufgebaut hat. Dabei begeben wir uns von einem Turm im Amazonas-Regenwald, über Forschungsschiffe sowie -flugzeuge bis in einen Kinosaal – und verfolgen die VOCs.
