Castor Oil Diamond Robbery

Originally Aired: January 31, 1934 Calling All Cars #10, "Castor Oil Diamond Robbery," begins when two criminals spot an opportunity while working at a radio shop near West 29th Street. A store clerk notices the expensive jewelry worn by wealthy customers Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Zerminsky during their visits to purchase a radio. The clerk conspires with his partner Lynch to rob the couple, deliberately sabotaging the radio he installs so he can return to the Zerminsky home multiple times to case the residence. After observing thousands of dollars worth of diamonds and jewelry in the home, the two criminals plan their heist. On the evening of January 23rd, 1929, the pair arrives at the Zerminsky residence in a Chevrolet Coupe. Before entering, one criminal takes cocaine to steady his nerves while the other waits impatiently. Disguised with bandanas and using fake names, they cut through a screen door and force their way inside when Mr. Zerminsky answers the door. The case demonstrates how an alert citizen who memorized the suspicious automobile's license number helps police quickly break the case, though the full resolution of this diamond robbery remains to be heard.
