MacLachlan traces his unusual trajectory from an unknown theatre actor in Seattle directly to starring in David Lynch’s 1984 adaptation of Dune, through Blue Velvet and Twin Peaks, to becoming an ensemble anchor in shows like Sex and the City, Desperate Housewives, and Fallout. Reflecting on his special bond with the legendary director, MacLachlan recalls Lynch's total devotion to the artistic process: "David was someone who created something every day. He got up and he made something... there was no material or medium that he wouldn't create with."
