Have We Made Aging Too Much Work?

show notes
Protein. Steps. Strength training. Brain health. Sleep. Skincare. Finances. Friendships. Purpose. Hydration. And apparently, we're supposed to stretch too.
When did aging become a performance review?
In this episode of Aging with Grace and Style, we're talking about the growing pressure to do aging perfectly. There's nothing wrong with wanting to age well, stay strong, protect our health and enjoy our lives. But when did taking care of ourselves become one giant checklist?
I'm sharing why I'm simplifying my own approach to aging well—and why health, strength, connection and yes, actually enjoying your life, deserve a place on the list.
Because maybe we don't need to get an A in aging. There isn't even a test.
✨ Key Takeaways
- There's a difference between taking care of yourself and constantly feeling like you're failing at taking care of yourself — and we need to know which one we're doing
- None of the items on the aging well checklist are bad — it's when you put them all together that you start feeling behind before you've even had breakfast
- You can hear a good idea and keep scrolling — you don't have to immediately add it to your life
- One missed workout isn't your health. One lazy Saturday doesn't mean you've given up on personal growth. One meal isn't your diet.
- Enjoying your life belongs on the aging well checklist — and it doesn't get talked about nearly enough
- You get to decide what aging well looks like for you — not social media, not a magazine, not somebody selling you a supplement
📓 Reflection Prompt
If you could throw out everybody else's aging well checklist and make your own, what would actually be on it? Just yours. Nobody else's.
