A Few Thoughts About...Enough

There’s a strange little voice in our heads that always seems to be saying, “Not yet.” Not until we lose the weight. Not until we make more money. Not until the relationship improves. Not until we’re less anxious, more confident, or finally have everything figured out. There’s always something else that would make life just a little bit better. But what if there isn’t? In this episode, I explore our tendency to continually search for what’s missing, why the finish line of self-improvement and achievement keeps moving, and the difference between wanting something to change and needing it to change before we can be okay. We also look at how this shows up in drinking, where alcohol can become the thing we imagine will finally complete an otherwise ordinary experience. Maybe being okay doesn’t require us to stop wanting things, improving things, or making changes. Maybe we can do all of that without making this moment wrong. And maybe right now is already enough. LINKSYou don’t have to wait until January to begin changing your relationship with alcohol. What if you spent the next couple of months getting curious about your drinking, your thinking, and what you’re actually experiencing? If you’d like some support exploring that, I’m currently welcoming new one-on-one coaching clients. Learn more about working with me at scottpinyard.com/coaching. I always love to hear from you! There’s a strange little voice in our heads that always seems to be saying, “Not yet.”

Not until we lose the weight.
