Can you accept the challenges of your life? Can you meet them with conviction, not that you will succeed or overcome every obstacle but rather that you will try and grow?
We don’t always like the challenges that life puts in front of us. We don’t always care for the choices that are available to us. Sometimes, every choice feels like a bad one. It’s the lesser of two evils and neither feels particularly small. And, in those moments, it’s very hard to find acceptance.
But I do think there’s a different way to look at it. It comes back to intention. How do we center ourselves on who we are and who we aspire to be when we face challenges? If instead of thinking about whether we overcame, what if instead we thought about whether we were true to ourselves? Because pressure testing who we are is one of the greatest ways we can grow.
As you read this I wonder:
* Are you looking at your challenges as opportunities?
* Do you know who you aspire to be? Does that shape your response?
* If it does, why isn’t that enough?
The world feeds us choices. We have the option to pick a path or to pick none at all. In some sense, that choice is the greatest and clearest representation of who we are. As you close out the week, can you focus on being the person you want to be more than whether that makes you overcome the challenge in front of you?
