Auburn football has reached the bye week at 3 and 2, and it is time to deal with some hard truths about what the Tigers have put on the field through five games. Auburn still has plenty to play for, but the toughest portion of the schedule is coming. Before Alex Golesh and the Tigers can worry about Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss and the rest of the SEC schedule, Auburn has some major problems that have to be addressed during the bye week. It starts with an Auburn running game that simply has not been good enough. That might be one of the biggest surprises of the season. Auburn entered 2026 with Jeremiah Cobb, Bryson Washington, Omar Mabson, Tay Meadows and a quarterback in Byrum Brown who rushed for 1,000 yards last season. The expectation was that Auburn would be physical, establish the run and force defenses to deal with one of the deepest collections of rushing talent on the roster.
